In Winter, four-wheel drive is required.

County roads are maintained dirt roads.

If coming from Hwy 285 (Fairplay,) Google maps works well. If coming from I-70, Google maps are pretty inefficient. You will save 5-10 minutes following the map shown. 

The CR-4 turn off is shortly after the viewpoint for Hoosier Pass.

This route will also save you substantial time heading to Breckenridge.
